HOME STAGING CERTIFICATION

This course is not part of the Interior Design Certificate Program.

This course introduces participants to the professional world of home staging, where design meets real estate. Students will explore the principles, strategies, and psychology behind successful staging, learning how to  transform spaces to appeal to potential buyers. The course covers staging for both occupied and vacant homes, space planning, color theory, budgeting, and working with real estate professionals. Through case studies, exercises, and a final mock staging project, students gain practical tools to style, market, and sell with confidence.

Course Objectives:

• Identify the role of home staging in the real estate market.
• Differentiate between staging and interior design.
• Apply buyer psychology and first impression principles to staging decisions.
• Evaluate properties and develop effective staging checklists.
• Create floor plans and furniture layouts that support staging goals.
• Use color, lighting, and accessories to enhance a property’s appeal.
• Compare occupied and vacant staging strategies and packages.
• Collaborate with real estate agents and vendors effectively.
• Build basic staging budgets and manage inventory or rental sourcing.
• Design and present a complete mock staging plan for a real or hypothetical home.

Grading Information:
Students must successfully complete all course videos, participate in exercises, and complete the final test to pass the course.
Upon successful completion of a final test a Home Staging Certification will be issued.
